You're error is in insiting the problem stems from the legal posession of firearms. Demonstrably false. The problem is one of human nature and human character. So long as people who would violate the rights of others exist, there will be a need for individuals to be able to defend themselves from such predation. To infringe on this right of self defense is to uphold criminality and tyranny, and hold hostage humanity to those who do not respect the rights of others. It's one thing to try and minimize the access to arms by people who have proven dangerous, irresponsible, or unlawful. It is quite another thing to deny all persons their cvil/human rights to self defense. Despite your desire, the 2nd Amendment (and the rest of the Bill of Rights you oppose such as freedom of speech, freedom of association, and freedom of assembly) stands.

Nor do I like the way that only agents of the government and criminals have guns in major cities because of ill conceived gun control legislation, nor do I like the millions who have been killed in genocides around the world in the last hundred years, most all of which were preceeded by Gun Control (often led the progressive "socialists" you seem to idolize so much).

Like any human, I certainly did not like that people were killed at VT, Amish Schools, or Columbine (an absurd question).

I do not like the way the shooters at Columbine and VT, and a host of other places, were ignored and allowed to go about their business by law enforcement and mental health agents despite serious signs of being a threat to others.

Nor do I like the way that the teachers/staff at VT and Colubmine never had a chance against the gunmen because they were forbidden to bear arms in self defense by gun control legislation.
