OK - sorry this has taken so long, but I've finally managed to find a little time to answer some of the many questions I've been asked. I guess I'll try to answer as many as I can FAQ style.
1) How do you get your videos to be such good quality?
I don't use a video camera to take my videos. I use a video capture card (ATI All in Wonder 2006 specifically), into which I plug my Playstation 2 or Xbox 360. I then use the video capture mode of a great free program called "VirtualDub" which captures the raw audio/video feed into a huge file (normally around 6 gigabytes for 1 song). I then use VirtualDub to save this file as an AVI with DivX 5.1 video compression, and mp3 audio (stereo, 56 kb/s) - this will generally compress the huge file to one which is around 50MB, which I will then upload to youtube.
2) How do you get custom songs in Guitar Hero?
Well - this one comes up all the time. Firstly, I only play customs on my Playstation 2 - I don't think you can do it on an Xbox 360 yet. Secondly, your Playstation needs to have some way of booting homebrew applications (whether that be mod chip, Swap magic, or the method I use, which is a software mod which boots to the harddrive I have in the PS2). Complete instructions for creating customs can be found here : http://www.scorehero.com/forum /viewtopic.php?t=5925&start=0. If you register at the site, you will have access to all the custom songs that we guitar hero enthusiasts have created, although you will still need to locate the song file (mp3 works just fine) on your own, as these are copyrighted in most cases.
3) How do I beat Jordan?
There is no magic formula for beating Jordan - it takes a lot of perseverance. The best way to play the solo is to learn it by heart and two hand tap it, but if you're like me, and don't have the time/inclination to do that, the best advice I can give is to try and strum every note, and only use your first three fingers throughout. It will take a while, but you'll get it eventually. Getting the correct strumming speed is the toughest part for me, but once you find that speed, you should be fine.
4) Do you play real guitar? (aka - learn to play real guitar noob)!
I do - I've been playing for many years (mainly classical), and I also play the piano (also mainly classical). I'm a bit rusty, but might post a video eventually to silence (or perhaps feed) the trolls.
Why don't you make a custom of song "your favorite song here"?
There are enough songs out there that I like and can't find time to chart, that I doubt I will ever get to other peoples requests. My advice is, if you like the song so much, spend 30 minutes learning how Feedback works, and chart it yourself. You don't need to be a great player to be able to make great chart.
Why don't you post a video of song "X"?
Hopefully I'll get to them eventually - at the moment, I'm not too excited about playing GH2 (same 64 songs for a year = *yawn*), and prefer playing customs. I will start posting like crazy again when Guitar Hero 3 is released next month though :)
