Here's one way to test for mistakes... 1. What's the AC load current in the #26 wire at the spot where it connects with the bridge rectifier? 2. What's the DC load current going to the xmas lights? If these two readings are way different, then your meter is wrong. After all, the input and output currents at the bridge rectifier are always the same. The only difference is that the input is AC and the output is DC. If your meter says they're totally different, then buy a better meter!
