You're channel is brilliant man.. I bought a Rhodes a couple months ago and I've been waiting for something like this to get me inspired enough to learn something!...Do you have any suggestions on funky pieces for beginners?

Hi,
Thanks for putting up the funk lesson, I've been poking arround in the dark for ages looking for some ideas to improve the small ammount of playing/composing skill I have. I've no brain to remeber thousands of scales, modes ect. I was going to ebay all my gear, but I'm inspired now. Nice and slow, not toooooo much info ect. It will still take months for me to learn it, but Now I can see the finger movements ect. I've got loads of books, but it all goes over my head. Thanks again, some nice favs too. Rhodes are exellent, I have to try my DX7 midid to my Karma and An1x, to get that 70's Westchester Lady Sound, and they are not even close. Regards, 13voices. |

Thanks for the comment I had actually been looking at some of your stuff before I had bought my rhodes and it helped me in making my decision. I want to ask you a bunch of questions about your approach to jazz/funk cause its my thing Im just crossing over from classical and relearning everything but Im going to read deep into your website first then get to you. Thanks again

volvoxburger,
Thanks for the recommending me the book Effortless Mastery by Kenny Werner. I read it in 2 days (could not but it down) and i can already feel a great weight lifted off my back. I know a lot of shallow players in my circle of friends that have used presure to get me to learn new stuff, (the music they wanted to do). Now i am playing on my own and letting go of the ghost of the past. Thanks again Bro. joseph |
