Well, where to start?

Theory-ridden piano lessons when I was four, possibly? Rendering me a Royal Conservatory drop-out by the age of ten, then tune-less for a few years before finally sitting down at the keys again and connecting with the instrument in an organic way.

Sarah McLachlan's 'Fumbling Towards Ecstasy' is probably to thank for much of the passion or obsession I've developed for singing and writing songs. That album had an honesty & rawness that helped break me out of anxiety and perfectionism.

Brian Farrell, my former vocal coach and mentor, http://www.brianfarrell.ca/ was the first to recognize and nurture my initial interest in songwriting when I was 15. He approached music in a natural and inspiring way, using analogies to help liquefy tension in phrasing. He both inspired and challenged me to write songs that gave each word, sound and breath; space and relevance.

To me, more important than perfect pitch or writing a 3:30sec structured jingle, is connecting with what I'm singing about on a personal level and bringing people into the space I was in when I wrote it. Hopefully someone else can relate, be inspired, motivated or at least experience something that extends their current reality. joy, heartbreak, vengeance, redemption ...

I am finally going back into the studio to record a new EP! 'Feel a Fool' & 'Someone Like Me' are a couple of the songs that will be on there. Message me & let me know if there are other originals you want to hear. (Within the next couple weeks) It will be available on iTunes in the coming months.
