--- Having seen the "Free Hugs" video, I knew there was only one thing to do: Dust off the 6 DV tapes I had waiting patiently to be edited since 2003 , and get a long awaited project finished. Thank you for the inspiration, your video was the final push to get this done. 18 Hours of editing later, here's the prize! ------
On 21 April 2003 Hugh Mann was double booked. Two friends had invited him to celebrate an opening day for their new bakery, and simultaneously that day was a march for peace happening in London, where several other friends were looking forward to seeing him. Hugh wished to miss neither.
So, Hugh hatched a plan. About a week before the fateful weekend, armed with no more than a bunch of flowers, some thought provoking cards he made the night before, and a couple of camera savvy friends, Hugh took to the streets of London in a gentle attempt to seed just a little bit of kindness, peace, hope and laughter for the people of planet earth.
This is that day, now you can enjoy it too!
If you are inspired to do anything similar, you'll be guaranteed to have one of the most memorable days of your life! Post it on the internet and pump it outside!!
Thank you for watching, and thank you for existing!
Peace, Love, Truth, and Spirals!
Hugh Mann xxx

Filmed April 10th 2007, at a Buddhist shrine in Chichester, this video tells the story of a sand painting born only the day before.
In Tibetan Buddhist tradition, the Mandala is brought to an end, honouring the Buddhas teaching of 'impermanence' : that all things arise and fade away - that all things are temporary in nature.
In the video you will see many members of the local and visiting Tibetan Buddhist commuity contributing to the growth of the mandala, including the special guest Dr Akong Tulku Rinpoche.
Many thanks to David Mackenzie-Dewhirst for his kind help and guidance in making the mandala, and should anyone like to enquire further about sand mandalas or other therapeutic artforms he practices, he can be contacted at:
www.artmatters.nhs.uk
The word Mandala is sanskrit and litterally means 'Circle' & 'Center', it suggests the notion that any centre is tied to it's circumferance, and that any circumferance is always determined by it's center, together they represent a wholeness. The Making Of The Mandala: Traditionally, the sand for madalas is made by crushing precious and semi-precious stones such as coral and turquoise amber etc, but this is no longer done. The sand is dyed using vegetable dyes or opaque tempera or acrylics, it is applied to the mandala disc (base) with a narrow metal funnel called a 'chakpu', which is tapped against to cause sufficient vibration for grains of sand to trickle out of its end. Stray grains of sand are moved back into place with small brushes, no adhesives are used to maintain the position of the sand.
Mandala's to Promote Health & Healing: There has been medical research to show that the bodies immune system and innate healing ability are enhanced when we are relaxed, creativity appears to trigger the bodies relaxation response, promoting one's own health and healing and increasing stress reduction. Finally:
In the dismantling of the mandala one should remain in the same relaxed and meditative state of mind, as in its creation. Mandala's can help us to understand that all things are impermanent and exist only in relation to, and in independence on other things.
The Kagyu tradition is one of the four main schools of Tibetan Buddhism. It is reknowned for its emphasis on meditation as embodied by such great masters as Marpa, Milarepa and Gampopa, whose example inspired people throughout Tibet.
The supreme head of the Kagyu lineage is the Karmapa. Kagyu Samye Dzong London is a branch of Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery in Scotland, a Buddhist Centre which was established in 1967 and now has branches worldwide. Kagyu Samye Dzong London is under the direct guidance of Dr. Akong Tulku Rinpoche and Ven.Lama Yeshe Losal, whose lives and activity are an endless source of inspiration for the thousands of people who come into contact with them every year. They are known for their tireless efforts in preserving the purity of the Buddha's teachings, and the Kagyu lineage in particular and they visit Kagyu Samye Dzong London regularly giving teachings, guidance and empowerments. The day to day guidance of the centre is by Lama Zangmo.

Performed at Julias 30th Birthday this year - "Birds of a feather" is a peculiar song about love, life, death and rebirth I wrote around March 2006 year... not particularly well performed, but edited with terribly "snazzy" 80sish effects to make up for it :)

There is no Death,
There are no dead
There's no Separation
...it's all in your head..
There is no Death, There are no dead There's no Separation
...it's all in your head...
Well Messages from the Maelstrom were supposed to be improvised, but I'm breaking the rules today and playing some music & singing into this one!
This an abridged version of a song I wrote last year on the guitar.
Peace

An exorcism for hungry ghosts, a lamp for their victims, & the vacuous rantings of a madman found scribbled within a message in a battle, for the blessed...these are a few of my favourite things.
With thanks to those, my subscribers and friends, it ends where it begins, ...and begins where it ends.
Peace all, go forth and spreadeth your creative juices! x

It was a beautiful day today, and I jumped on my bike and went on a little adventure.
I found a beautiful meadow, full of yellow flowers and sat in the magnificent ocean of petals.
Bees were all around buzzing and gathering nectar and pollen around me and I did my best to film them at work.
A horse came and said hello too, and he looked just amazing in the flowers under the bright blue sky.
I dont have a job right now, and I really dont want one with days as beautiful as this, yet I know I cant live off my savings forever..
for the moment however, Now is forever..
Oh yes there's a peculiar existential poem somewhere in there too.
Enjoy :)
