Tommy Quickly - Tip of My Tongue
Tip of My Tongue is a single by Tommy Quickly backed by The Remo Four. It is one of the few songs written by Lennon/McCartney that were never officially released by The Beatles. Several takes of this song were apparently recorded on 26 November 1962 at EMI Studios, although George Martin was dissatisfied with the results. This session has yet to emerge on any of The Beatles bootlegs.
Surprisingly, although Quickly's version was released in the UK as Beatlemania was taking off, the single was a flop and proved merely the first of a series of career disappointments for the singer. "Tip of My Tongue" remains the only original A-side written by Lennon/McCartney not to have at least made the UK top 75 upon its initial release.
Paul: Oh, my God! There were always a couple of songs that we didn't want to do because we didn't think they were very good but other people would say, "Well I'll do it, I think it's quite good" Tommy Quickly was one of our friends out of Brian Epstein's stable. This is pretty much mine, I'm ashamed to say. It sounds like one these where I tried to work it around the title.
Lyrics: When I want to speak to you It sometimes takes a week or two To think of things I want to say to you But words just stay on the tip of my tongue
When the skies are not so blue There's nothing left for me to do Just think of something new to say to you But words just stay on the tip of my tongue
People say I'm lonely, Only you know that's not true You know I am waiting for a chance To prove my love to you
Soon enough my time will come And after all is said and done I'll marry you and we will live as one With no more words on the tip of my tongue
People say I'm lonely, Only you know that's not true You know I am waiting for a chance To prove my love to you
Soon enough my time will come And after all is said and done I'll marry you and we will live as one With no more words on the tip of my tongue With no more words on the tip of my tongue With no more words on the tip of my tongue

(Now and then there's a fool such as I) Pardon me, if I'm sentimental When we say goodbye Don't be angry with me should I cry When you're gone, yes I'll dream A little dream as years go by Now and then there's a fool such as I
Now and then there's a fool such as I am over you You taught me how to love And now you say that we are through I'm a fool, but I'll love you dear Until the day I die Now and then there's a fool such as I
Now and then there's a fool such as I am over you You taught me how to love And now you say that we are through I'm a fool, but I'll love you dear Until the day I die Now and then there's a fool such as I Now and then there's a fool such as I Now and then there's a fool such as I
