Very few singer/songwriters deliver songs and musical arrangements which knock you for six and makes you stop and listen!

Married couple Mary and Martin produce subtle musical arrangements with meaningful lyrics, harmonic melodies and brilliantly produced songs that reflects their experiences. Originally from Birmingham, UK, Mary used to sing with the Merry Bell Gospel Choir. Leaving the choir she pursued an academic career, publishing academic papers and completing but not submitting her PhD in work psychology because she lost faith in academia and the ability of the academics to improve our world. Her new found vocation of singer-songwriter and a love of the vibrations of the guitar has had her and Martin traveling around Europe writing, recording and performing the songs.

Martin is a multi-talented singer/songwriter, producing the songs written by both himself and Mary. Apart from some drums on a couple of tracks all the instruments are played and recorded by Martin.

Martin was classically trained and played solo trumpet for a 'Glen Miller' Big Band when just 9 years old. Leaving school at 16 went into 16trk recording studios engineering for local bands. At 19 moving to London and one of them big fancy studios were Bob Marley did his thing and worked as a 'Tape-op' come tea boy.

At 21 he went traveling, 3 times around the globe with a backpack of books and acoustic guitar, 20 countries, sailed both Pacific and Atlantic oceans, Greenpeace Antarctic ship Gondwana. Eventually met his Teacher, threw all the books and guitar away and spent 10 years studying and living in a Buddhist Monastery in Kathmandu and in the US. Extensive traveling of the USA fund raising for Tibetan Buddhists, Geomancy, Solar Philosophy amongst other things.

In the very short Mitta Sutta, or discourse on friends, the Buddha tells his monks to seek out friends with seven qualities:

"He gives what is hard to give. He does what is hard to do. He endures what is hard to endure. He reveals his secrets to you. He keeps your secrets. When misfortunes strike, he doesn't abandon you. When you're down & out, he doesn't look down on you.

A friend endowed with these seven qualities is worth associating with."

Notice there is no mention of being well-versed in the dharma, mastery of meditation, or possessing great wisdom. FRIENDSHIP, the Buddha knew, is far more foundational, far more simple.
