Ya the issue is quiet complicated. In Islam it is forbidden to put any photo either good or bad for Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him or of any other Prophet from all the Prophets. Putting photos of any man or any living thing in the mosque, even dressing a shirt with the face of any thing is forbidden in the mosque, most propably forbidding idolatry or something related. As you know idols have mis leaded many people in history as well as in the mean time.
Any photo for Prophet Muhammad or for Any Prophet is totally unacceptable in Islam, even Jesus photos in the church or in Christianity is considered bad and disrespectful in the sight of Allah.
