OS/2 Related 25 Vídeos
OS/2 was an operating system first developed by Microsoft and IBM. During the time Windows 3.1 was released, Microsofot and IBM got into a dispute and broke up. Many reason IBM failed to get a hold of the OS market because it primary targeted it's operating system to business at a high price tag while Microsoft was going OEM.
IBM failed to compete, delivering it's last major release in 1996. In 1998 they developed JSF (File System) for OS/2 and later it was adopted on Linux systems. IBM discontinued sales and support in 2001 and sold the rights of the operating system to Serenity Systems and it has been updated for modern computers as eComStation. www.ecomstation.com OS/2 had proven to be a solid, compact and efficient operating system. These qualities was what made it an admirable operating system for ATM machines, NASA and fail safe systems. There is also ongoing open source support at netlabs.org |
