I love to play the bass, yes I am female. I play bass unconventionally because I have Lupus, which is an chronic and incurable illness. It causes my hands & fingers to not work all the time, strength wise. One symptom is terrible arthritis & pain. It isn't known why you get it, it isn't contagious, you don't look sick. I lead a pretty normal life. Please save all your comments about bass technique.I wish I could hold the bass correctly, play notes like in the textbook, but I can't. What matters IS,I can play the bass period, it brings me joy which is why I learned. Thank you to ALL of you that inspire me to keep going and keep learning and playing. You are all a blessing! I am in a band now, I've come a long way I hope, and it is due to joining a band. Makes you step up your game for sure! The other band members have been around for awhile, just added me on bass. They are great musicians and teach me a lot.
