a LOW-fi version of
Here COMES the SUN
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Here_Comes_the_Sun
Harrison stated in The Beatles Anthology: " "Here Comes The Sun was written at the time when Apple was getting like school, where we had to go and be businessmen: 'Sign this' and 'sign that'. Anyway, it seems as if winter in England goes on forever, by the time spring comes you really deserve it. So one day I decided I was going to sag off Apple and I went over to Eric Clapton's house. The relief of not having to go see all those dopey accountants was wonderful, and I walked around the garden with one of Eric's acoustic guitars and wrote Here Comes The Sun".

Lyrics:
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun, and I say it's all right
Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here Here comes the sun, here comes the sun and I say it's all right
Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here Here comes the sun, here comes the sun and I say it's all right
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes... Sun, sun, sun, here it comes... Sun, sun, sun, here it comes... Sun, sun, sun, here it comes... Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear Here comes the sun, here comes the sun, and I say it's all right It's all right

1972 - Written by Ewan MacColl 1957
Folk singer Ewan MacColl wrote this in 1957 for his wife, Peggy Seeger**. She was in a play and phoned him for suggestions on a song for a romantic scene. MacColl wrote this on the spot, in less than an hour, and taught it to her over the phone - Source Songfacts
Roberta's version first appears on her 1969 album "First Take", it was then popularized by Clint Eastwood in his 1971 directorial debut "Play Misty for Me", resulting in it being shortened to a four minute single and released by Atlantic Records in 1972
It reached number fourteen in the UK and stayed at number one in the United States for six weeks, which led to Roberta winning the Record of the Year Award, and Ewan the Grammy Award for Song of the Year.

Check out the "nusound" Video Response where (Producer) Joel Dorn - talks about Roberta Flack & Clint Eastwood http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-u729cbaNxE
** There's a discrepancy in web accounts as to whether Peggy Seeger was his wife, lover and/or mother of his child when he wrote this song. Also Kirsty was born two years later but I believe her mother was his 2nd and earlier wife.

Happy 67th Birthday John !
We're playing those mind games together,
Pushing barriers, planting seeds, Playing the mind guerilla, Chanting the Mantra peace on earth,
We all been playing mind games forever,
Some kinda druid dudes lifting the veil. Doing the mind guerilla, Some call it the search for the grail, Love is the answer and you know that for sure, Love is flower you got to let it, you got to let it grow,
So keep on playing those mind games together,
Faith in the future outta the now, You just can't beat on those mind guerillas, Absolute elsewhere in the stones of your mind,
Yeah we're playing those mind games forever,
Projecting our images in space and in time, Yes is the answer and you know that for sure, Yes is the surrender you got to let it, you got to let it go,
So keep on playing those mind games together,
Doing the ritual dance inn the sun, Millions of mind guerrillas, Putting their soul power to the karmic wheel,
Keep on playing those mind games forever,
Raising the spirit of peace and love, not war, (I want you to make love, not war, I know you've heard it before)

I wanted to do something different tonight so a Broadway song seemed different enough if again perhaps a bit ambitious. I would never have thought of doing this beautiful song from West Side Story had I not heard Tom Waits do a beautiful version. I did 23 takes and ended up going back to the first one with all its imperfections cause it seemed the least affected.
Somewhere
There's a place for us, Somewhere a place for us. Peace and quiet and open air Wait for us Somewhere.
There's a time for us, Some day a time for us, Time together with time spare, Time to learn, time to care, Some day!
Somewhere. We'll find a new way of living, We'll find a way of forgiving Somewhere . . .
There's a place for us, A time and place for us. Hold my hand and we're halfway there. Hold my hand and I'll take you there Somehow, Some day, Somewhere!
