I'm back!
Here's an all time favourite of mine from way way back. Songs lend themselves to interpretation, and for this particular one, I feel it resonates with those who've had regrets in their life, which is pretty much everybody. So, to all of you out there still holding on to regrets about mistakes you've made in the past, well, you were only freshmen, and this song's for you.

It's Valentines Day, 2007, and also my one year anniversary with Liz. Since she's no longer in Vancouver, I thought I'd walk around town and revisit some of the places we've been to while she was here. I thought I'd also enlist the help of some reluctant friends to film me with the guitar. And I recently heard the song "Grey Room" by Damien Rice, and thought it was quite beautiful and fitting for this occasion.
Liz, I hope you like this, and that it takes you for a nice stroll down memory lane. I know that where ever I went, I remembered the good times, and wished that you were there, in front of the camera with me. I miss you.
Happy anniversary, Liz. I hope to keep you warmer than warm, for years to come.
Special thanks to Frank, Stephanie, and Ryan for helping with the filming, and Josh, for the use of his awesome basement recording studio. And sorry I forgot to mention before, but thanks to Walter and Wei. Without them, Liz and I would never have been.

A new year, a new song. I've always wanted to cover Live, but they tend to tune down 1/2 a step for their songs, and I've been too lazy to actually do that.
Well, New Year's resolution: stop being lazy and tune down 1/2 a step.
The verses in this song were quite difficult in terms of timing and rhythm, but since it's an all time favourite, it was well worth the effort.
Apologies for minor screw-ups with switching chords and crazy voice.
Also: the last chorus is in a different key. The tab does not state this, so try in place of the normal chorus chords: D A Bm G.
For Liz - even if you're half a world away, we walk on streets below the same moon. So run to the water, and you'll find me there.

I previously recorded this with just a solo acoustic guitar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rci-0AsBvzo), and dedicated that performance to my best friend and grand master violinist, Andrew Beer, who absolutely abhors the city where no one knows your name.
Well, as luck would have it, he's back in town for Christmas, so I thought it would be interesting if we could play this song, but substituting the piano with the violin. Andrew, being the stuck-up artiste that he fancies himself, decided that the viola would sound better. And it did, I think.
So after a couple jam sessions, and a few more snide remarks about Boston from Andrew, we give you this. Enjoy!

My first favourite from Absolution. I've also learned the intro solo, but doesn't sound that great on acoustic without some background, so I thought I'd just play some chords. It's also easier and potentially less embarassing, or not?

I followed the above tab with only minor embelishments - an excellent transcription from piano. I was just at a Coldplay concert last night here in Vancouver, and they rocked the house with this one. Also, brilliant music video.

- lacking a finer sense of tempo
- thereby rushing a bit as the song went on
