Last complete symphony of my dear German composer (since beethoven his reached to Sketch your tenth symphony), and which is very important for the transformations of the music that Beethoven achieved, simultaneously, that it corresponds to one of the summits of the history of the humanity in the music and the art. Specially his fourth movement is very recognized by the whole humanity and has turned into an anthem to the freedom, equality and brotherhood that beethoven was trying getting in all your works, specially your symphonies. Nowadays it is the anthem of the European Union, from 1986. premiere on May 7, 1824 in the theatre of porta carinzia, in Wien, Österreich, under the direction of ignaz schuppanzigh, completed between the year 1822 and 1824 and dedicated to Federico guglielmo III king of Prussia.
The Symphony is scored for, two Flutes, two Oboes,Oboe Piccolo (in the fourth movement only) two Clarinets in A, B flat and C, two Bassoons, Contrabassoon (in the fourth movement only), two Horns (I and II) in D and B flat, two Horns (III and IV) in B flat (Bass), B flat and E flat, two Trumpets in D and B flat, three Trombones (Alto, Tenor, and Bass, second and fourth movements only), Timpani, Triangle (fourth movement only), Cymbals (fourth movement only), Bass drum (fourth movement only), and Strings.
The vocal parts consist of Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Tenor, Bass (In occasions Bariton), and Choir in four parts (Soprano,Mezzo-Sorprano, Tenor (divided briefly into Tenor I and Tenor II) and Bass).
These are by far the largest forces needed for any Beethoven Symphony; at the premiere, Beethoven augmented them further by assigning two players to each wind part.

English:
Blest am I that I have Jesus, Oh, how firmly I hold him, That he bring my soul refreshment When I'm ill and filled with grief. I have Jesus, who doth love me And himself to me entrusteth; Ah, I'll hence leave Jesus not, Even though my heart should break.

This video is my second in a series which will feature various classical pieces of relative obscurity. I hope to showcase these pieces with an appropriate slideshow that will hopefully display how speacial these compositions are.
The previous video in my series: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QY1PCPfnSEA
This "Dixit Dominus" by Antonio Vivaldi is a mass setting that has been eclipsed in popularity by his more famous "Gloria". I haven't been able to find much info on this setting (I don't know what the english translation is), and like Vivaldi's "Magnificat" I think it is not nearly as famous as it should be. Most of the piece contains various solo arias with a couple of full choir movements. This is also the only video featuring this piece on youtube. The movement played here "Sicut Erat in Principio" and is the last movement of the work. I think it is one of Vivaldi's greatest, maybe even the greatest.
I've set the music to a slideshow featuring various images of Michelangelo's frescos in the Sistine Chapel. It is performed by the Academy of Ancient Music.
*UPDATE*
Latin words:
"Sicut erat in principio, et nunc et semper, et in saecula saeculorum"
*UPDATE*
English translation "As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen."
