Religion was a method of scaring people into a state of submission, born out of an idea that a few intellectuals had thousands of years ago in a time of fractioned conflicts between small groups over wealth, resources and power in general. By having mass control, they could direct this conflict into producing progress (technological, social, ideological etc...)

These religions can only lead to war.... and their vague prophecies WILL come true in ANY way they can make them, just to prove their forefathers right, instead of searching for what is TRUELY right.

We need religion for the conflict needed to provide the technological progress to be able to continue our scientific endeavors..

sorry to say it, but religion is a HOAX, and all it has done is united larger groups of people in conflict, instead of small fractioned ones.
