Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit (ドラゴンボールZ バーストリミット, DoragonbōruZetto Bāsuto Rimitto?) is a video game based off the popular anime/manga series Dragon Ball Z and is being released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. It was announced in Shonen Jump magazine on December 12, 2007. The developer for the game is Namco Bandai
The game is confirmed to have a story mode, spanning from the beginning of the Saiyan Saga to the end of the Cell Saga. There are also going to be what if scenarios in the game, much like some of the previous games. It is also suggested that characters from the original Dragonball will have a story mode.
On December 24th, 2007, a PV trailer was released. The gameplay shown in the video showcases moves much like those of the Dragon Ball Z Budokai game series, and those of Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai , demonstrating that the gameplay will be 2D, unlike the Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi game series which used an over the shoulder camera perspective. At the Taipei Game Show 2008, the game was shown to utilize in-fight cutscenes in an effort to make the game as true to the anime as possible. One such example is a character being attacked with an energy beam, only for the game to switch to a 3D rendered cutscene depicting the character knocking away this attack in defense, then quickly switching back to the continuing 2D gameplay. [5]. The method for using such abilities is currently unknown. Support characters are also usable, with Krillin being the first known example. In-game transformations have also been displayed, with Goku being able to power up to Kaiô-ken while fighting. [6]. Players can also knock their opponents into other stage areas, which is also initiated by the in-game cut-scenes.
The game will also utilize the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360's online functions to battle friends and enemies alike across an internet connection.
Playable characters have been confirmed before the release through various scans and game trailers. The February 2008 edition of the Japanese magazine, V Jump has announced 35 playable characters[8], as well as 13 stages.[9]

The Wii version will feature online multiplayer capability,[2] the first game in the series to have such a feature. Players can fight against anyone from around the globe with a ranking system showing the player's current standing compared to anyone else who has played online. As compensation for the lack of online, Spike has added a new "Disc Fusion System" to the PlayStation 2 version. Inserting a Budokai Tenkaichi or Budokai Tenkaichi 2 disc during play unlocks Ultimate Battle or Ultimate Battle Z,[2] modes featured in the respective games needed to unlock them.

Super Saiyan 4 (超サイヤ人4, Sūpā Saiyajin 4?)This transformation only appears in Dragon Ball GT. In the sequel series Dragon Ball GT, new enemies emerge and Goku searches for a way to ascend what he had originally thought was the last Super Saiyan form. As a result, he went through a process that enabled him to transform into a Super Saiyan 4. The Super Saiyan 4 form is the strongest Super Saiyan transformation achieved in the anime series, and is only accessible to pure full blooded Saiyans; this was discovered when the parasitic Tuffle Baby had possessed Vegeta, and Baby Vegeta could not transform to this because Baby was not a Saiyan, making Vegeta's heritage impure.
This form is only initially achieved when the primal nature of the Golden Oozaru are consciously suppressed. After this form is first achieved, it can be accessed afterwards without having to transform into a Golden Oozaru first. This form was first achieved by Son Goku when battling Baby Vegeta, and then achieved by Vegeta during the battle with Omega Shenron. In this form, the Saiyan's hair is not golden yellow like the previous 3 Super Saiyan forms; the color can vary, and is often their natural color. In addition, the aura of a Super Saiyan 4 lacks sparks of electricity previously seen in the Super Saiyan 2 and Super Saiyan 3 forms, instead it has red shades in the aura. The Saiyan's tail is present (albeit colored red) and their bodies are covered in a shade of red fur. Their top and bottom eyelids also become red and their hair is lengthened substantially, becoming wild and untamed. The coloring of the eyelids is similar to the common coloration of Sun Wukong masks. They also have pupils, but like the hair color, the eye color can also vary. This form looks mostly like the basic Saiyan, but with select Oozaru characteristics such as fur and tail. This form also apparently does not have power consumption issues, as Goku and Vegeta are seen maintaining the form for long periods of time, not reverting even when expending large amounts of chi energy.
Baby is the last known survivor of the Tuffles, a race destroyed by Saiyans. Baby himself is actually a very weak cybernetic parasite, but received his Tuffle heritage from the DNA of the king of the Tuffles himself, thus making him a clone of the king and a Tuffle hybrid. To avenge his race, he plots to gain as much power as he can, becoming as powerful as possible to destroy every single remaining Saiyan or Saiyan descendant. He never intended to make Vegeta his main host, but after noticing Vegeta's power level, it convinced him that this was what he had to do to achieve his sinister goal. After fully infecting Vegeta, he utilised the ability to combine the absorbed power he gained from Gohan, Goten and Trunks with Vegeta's maximum power to create a warrior with amazing power. This resulted in Baby becoming Baby-Vegeta, the ultimate Tuffle / Saiyan hybrid. After ascending to this form, Baby makes quick work of Son Goku and even fended off his attacks as a Super Saiyan 3, which was then Goku's most powerful form.
After dispatching Goku, Baby-Vegeta utilised the Black Star Dragon Balls to bring back Planet Vegeta, moved the entire population of Earth (which had been infected by Baby) to the new planet, and renamed it Planet Tuffle (it's original name before the Saiyans fully took over). By this time, Baby (while inside of Vegeta) had "grown up" into his most powerful form, resulting in Vegeta's body being becoming shifted and transformed to look almost exactly like Baby himself. After again being fended off by Baby, Goku, battered and broken once again, gazed upon the Earth, resulting in his primal Saiyan instincts becoming triggered due to the Earth's similar appearance to the Moon. This resulted in Goku turning into a Golden Oozaru and going off into a wild rampage. After Pan helped Goku return to his senses, Goku shrunk down to his new Super Saiyan 4 form and preceded to find and destroy Baby-Vegeta.

Vegetto:
Vegetto (ベジット, Bejitto?) was a desperate fusion by Vegeta and Goku using the Potara Earrings in an effort to defeat Majin Buu, and he is the strongest character in the original Dragon Ball series. After he was made, Vegetto transformed into a Super Saiyan and utterly outclassed Super Buu. Vegetto is also seen to be able to be in full control of his body when Buu turns him into a jawbreaker in an attempt to absorb him into his body. After being turned back into his original form by Buu, Vegetto puts up a force field and allows Buu to consume him, in order to rescue the ones who Buu had absorbed. The force field had protected Vegetto from being absorbed into Buu's system, however, the magical atmosphere of Buu's body nulls Vegetto's fusion, and the supposed permanent fusion splits into Goku and Vegeta again. Vegetto is never seen again.

FUNimation dub: Omega Shenron. As the strongest of the evil dragons in this arc, he fought against Son Goku (Dragon Ball) and Vegeta. Lacking the necessary power to defeat him in their Super Saiyan 4 forms, Goku and Vegeta used the fusion method to transform into SS4 Gogeta. However, they were only able to maintain this state for 10 minutes, during which they were unable to destroy Yi Xing Long. After separating into Son Goku and Vegeta, they implement a new tactic that permits Goku to gather energy from every planet in the universe and finally destroy the evil dragon.

15 Jahre nach dem erbitterten Kampf mit Boo, 5 Jahre nach dem Ende von Dragonball Z setzt Dragonball GT an. Prinz Pilaw, bekannt aus der ersten Staffel von Dragonball, sucht in Dendes Palast nach den „Super Dragonballs". Als er dann auf Son-Goku trifft, wünscht er sich stattdessen, Son-Goku möge so klein wie er werden, da er ihn dann besiegen und vor aller Welt demütigen könnte. Der Wunsch wird gewährt und Son Goku wird zu einem kleinen Kind geschrumpft.
Von Meister Kaio erfährt Goku, dass die Erde zerstört wird, wenn die im Universum zerstreuten Dragonballs in einem Jahr nicht wieder beisammen auf der Erde sind. So machen sich Son Goku, Trunks und Pan, an deren Stelle eigentlich Son Goten hätte mit fliegen sollen auf die Suche nach den Dragonballs und stoßen auf neue Gegner und Herausforderungen.
Neu hinzugekommen ist die Stufe Super-Saiyajin 4, die Son Goku erreicht, als er gegen den ersten größeren Gegner namens Baby kämpft. Gegen Ende der Serie erreicht auch Vegeta diese Stufe dank des Burutsuwellen-Generators, einer technischen Erfindung Bulmas.
Später fusionieren C17 und Hellfighter (in Deutscher Version: Nummer 17) zur Super Nummer 17. Dieser zerstört einen Großteil der Erde, doch dann wird er von Son-Goku und C18 besiegt. Schließlich gilt es noch die sieben Teufelsdrachen zu besiegen, die aus der negativen Energie der Dragonballs entstanden sind.
Son-Goku und Vegeta fusionieren sogar als Super-Saijayins 4 zu Super Gogeta. In dieser Form ist er selbst Syn Shenlong überlegen und spielt teilweise nur mit ihm. Leider gelingt es ihnen nur für 10 Minuten, die Fusion zu halten. Super Gogeta verwandelt sogar eine riesige Energiekugel aus negativer Energie mit nur einem Kick in positive Energie um. Er kann den letzten Drachen, Syn Shenlong, jedoch nicht besiegen, da er nur für ein paar Minuten in dieser Form bleiben kann, ehe er sich zurück verwandelt. Dies geschieht dummerweise genau, als er zum vernichtenden 100x Urknall-Kamehame-Ha ausholt.
Schließlich gelingt es Son Goku mit seiner letzten Kraft und der Hilfe aller Wesen im Universum eine riesige Genkidama zu erschaffen (Universe Genkidama). Mit dieser vernichtet er Super Syn-Shenlong und rettet somit das Universum. Nach dem Kampf erscheint Shenlong (der göttliche Drache), um Son Goku auf eine Reise mitzunehmen, von der Keiner weiß, wohin sie geht. Fest steht nur, dass Son Goku mit Shenlong verschmilzt und auf eine weite Reise geht. Vorher verabschiedet er sich jedoch noch von all seinen Freunden, bevor Dragonball GT endet.
Son Goku erscheint am Ende der letzten Folge noch einmal um seinem Ururenkel Son Goku Junior bei seinem Budokai-Tenkaichi-Turnierkampf gegen den Erben Vegetas beizuwohnen. Auch im Dragonball GT TV Special Dragonball GT -- The Movie: Son-Goku Jr. erscheint er noch einmal kurz. Son Goku scheint jedoch selbst nach 100 Jahren nach dem Ende der letzten GT-Folge noch am Leben zu sein, da er keinen Heiligenschein über seinem Kopf hat wie in anderen Dragonball-Folgen. Anscheinend hat Goku nach der Fusion mit Shenlong ewiges Leben erlangt, vermutlich um wie Shenlong ewig über das Heil des Universums zu wachen.
