ROYAL REGIMENT OF SCOTLAND NEWS

23/9/08 - More than 1,500 Scottish soldiers are to be sent to Afghanistan in April 09 to spearhead the next phase of the campaign against the Taliban. The Royal Scots Borderers (1 SCOTS), the Black Watch (3 SCOTS), have begun training for thier 7 month deployment. The Black Watch (3SCOTS) is expected to take over the 2 Para role as its brigade's main mobile strike force in the spring. The argyll and Southern Highlanders (5SCOTS) and the Royal Highland fusiliers (2SCOTS) have just returned after a 7 month tour in helmand, Southern Afghanistan.
