Well if look on land Chernivtsi the city and its surroundings became part of the Principality of Moldavia. in 1394
before that ! Remains of the early Slavic tribes in the area date back to the 2nd--5th centuries, with the artifacts of White Chroatian and Tiverian peoples from the 9th--11th centuries also being present. A fortified settlement located on the left shore of Prut dates back to the time of the Principality of Halych and is thought to have been built by Grand Prince Yaroslav Osmomysl, |

Ups... sorry :D
But well, ten deads in a siege... besides, do you know that Romanians were on his side at Khotin while before? I`m not sure if those were some anti-Ottoman rebels or who were those in Iasy, i can imagine that Romanians needed to balance between fight and support to Ottomans, i can find many battle in which we fought on the same side and also many when we fought on the opposite. The same was with Cossacs, sometimes together, sometimes against. Williamus: i`ve heard from few Ukrainians that they didn`t liked how Cossacs were showed in this movie. Anyway, my favorite movie from that trilogy is of course POTOP. |

"n 1683, Ducas joined the Ottomans in their march and the Battle of Vienna. Helped by his absence and aware of the complete failure of the Ottoman plans, boyars throughout the land rebelled, following Ştefan Petriceicu's command, and welcomed the invading Poles and Cossacks.
On his way back, Ducas was captured on December 25 and sent to a prison in Poland, where he died in the following year." Uuuuu, i don`t like him :P Btw. after the battle of Khotin Sobieski was occupying Moldova for a short time, becouse Lithuanian Hetman, Michael Casimir Pac retreated (he hated Sobieski), he was as well "late" on the Vienna battle and sabotaged all of the fights against Ottomans, Tatars and Cossacs of Peter Doroshenko... |

I know, Romanian is a Latin language after all.
Movilesti (i don`t know if good spelling) were a Romanian noble family which sometimes ruled over Wallachia or Moldova, but they also were accepted to the Polish "szlachta", received thier own coat of arms, much of high offices and intermarried with the most notable clans in the Commonwealth. Just read in Wiki about this family, but this wasn`t the only one Romanian noble family which had ties to the "szlachta". |

Yes, but it depends who, do you know the family of Movilesti? They were amongst the "lords brothers", Sarmatians... so no wonder that other "Sarmatians" went to Moldova in... "magnates wars", to help thier brother Ieremi Movila :)
