The trigates are pretty much triangles on walls in Halo 3. They were spotted in Halo 2 and people though they led to somewhere. It seems that the Halo games used to be about using gates to travel to different locations but Bungie changed this idea cause they didn't have enough time. The trigates are probably whats left of their idea. In Halo 3, the trigates are probably there cause Bungie felt like putting it there. A mod is basically hacking into the game and adding stuff that you normally cant.

The Golden Warthog is not real. But there are several mods to make one. Or, you can do what I do and make a Golden Warthog using a special glitch in Halo 3. You can also make a silver warthog using another glitch aswell.
