I believe in a united europe, a liberal europe without borders and trade barriers where businesses can fluorish and people are free to travel, work and live enywhere they want. A europe open to all people who are willing to embrace western values and work hard to make something of themselves, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, political orientations etc... . A europe which can speak with a single voice on the global stage, and which is a strong ally of the USA and other western democracies and can work with these countries to fight islamic extremism and spread peace and democracy around the world. I believe in an istitution which allows 27 democratic countries which share a common history, common values and are geographically very close, to come together and cooperate on a range of issues of strategic importance, from science and technology to agricolture, from energy to food safety, from free trade to economic stability, from environmental protection to fight against climate change, from transport and infrastructures to foreign policy and security. I believe that a supranational organization like the European Union offers european countries a unique opportunity to compete in all of these fields with the other major superpowers of today's globalized world, while allowing them to remain proud of their own national cultures and identities at the same time
