The distortion occurs in the psychic dimension (Psi-Storm) - the disruption metaphor is fissuring. It's damage is measured in pain-to-conscious-being and is dampened by a 'grounding' phenomena observed in the shaping of material imbued by psychic attention: i.e. haunting. Humans haunt objects, zerg haunts subjects, and protoss haunt both.
This is granted by the universal/cosmological truth that consciousness can have a direct psysical impact on material reality (quantum probability distortion).

Haha, I see you used ENKC Puzzler #1 after all. See, I knew it was worth asking.

To those of you who think a car is safe from electrical attack due to rubber tires, think again. A bolt of lightning just travelled several miles through air (air's resistance to electricity is off the scale), do you really think 2 inches of rubber will stop it? A car is safe because of the Faraday Cage which funnels the electricity around the car to the ground instead of through the car (and those who are inside).

As to what storm is... I honestly cant think of an explanation why a non-biological unit (like an observer or probe) is damaged by storm and yet a building is not. (Maybe its because their floating, but a terran building isnt damaged in the air)

forget psionic storm, what the hell is dark swarm?
i dunno what kind of gas is able to stop bullets, lasers, and long range attacks, but i want it. and how the hell is a defiler able to make a dark swarm from so far away?

Something I love about your commentaries: You and the other SC2gg commentators are not afraid to be wrong. You guys call games without 100% certainty and make guesses. It's really refreshing after watching sport commentators say it ain't over till it's over a million times. Also, those guesses are pretty informative to a newb by me because I'm often unaware of trends in the game that point to one player or the other. So thanks for the commentaries and the balls to say what's on your mind.

Johnny: problem with your explanation, and a lot of the electrical explantations for the psionic strom: one such shock would either kill the unit or not, the shocks wouldn't accumulate over time.

Also, you may remember that a car is a very safe place to be in a thunderstorm because it's tires act like a ground. Tanks (and reavers) have much more contact with the ground and wouldn't be affected by electric attacks at all. IT WOULD NOT ignite the fuel as the lightening would follow a path of least resistance - the metal armour as opposed to going through the fuel which is harder to travel through than the armour

An electrical explanation doesn't make sense

Psionc Storm deals electric damage. The templar focuses negative energy to overload the air around the enemy units with negative ions. Once a certain area has built up a charge powerful enough to do damage he suddenly releases his mental hold on it. The electron transfer then happens and deals a high amplitude electric shock to something nearby. The Templar does this many, many times per second, creating a storm of these shocks to rain down upon the area targeted. This fries the circuitry of the mech units and electrocutes the organic units. The shocks are, however, very low voltage. This means that the muscles of the organic units don't tense up, so they are still able to move while being stormed.
