This man understandably gets an unmanageable amount of attention from fans and I'm sure many of them want photos and signatures, so to call him ignorant for ignoring you is somewhat harsh. However, he in turn proved his ignorance by assuming that you were suggesting that he was "ignorant" in a narrow sense of the word that has been popularly adopted to mean that someone is "stupid" or "old fashioned" or "unaware of the world." The fact of the matter is that to be ignorant can also mean to be "rude" or "impolite." And by being argumentative and cursing repeatedly in front of children, this man definitely proved himself to be ignorant. What you said to him was a little too direct, and I do not condone it, but I'm sorry that you had to put up with his subsequent behavior.
