Assalam alaikum
Let me ask you a question.
What happens... if you with 100 thousands other Muslims gave $1 to ONE project at the same time?
Suddenly, your $1 made an impact of 100K dollars!
And this is no longer a theory. In the past 5 months, Muslims around the world have completed 5 projects through HalfDate.com
HalfDate.com is a Sadaqa promotion site.
The name HalfDate is inspired by the hadith of the prophet (SAW), where he said: protect yourself from the fire, even with a half a date donation, and if you can't, then with a pleasant word.
And now, you are invited to take an active role to grow HalfDate into the BIGGEST Sadaqa engine on the Net. How? Simple, the least you can do, is to join the mailing. Go to HalfDate.com and join the mailing list.
Okay, so what's secret of success for HalfDate?
The simple answer is learning from the Quran and the Sunnah.
Here are the principles that we learned and applied on HalfDate
1. Focused volume
At the beginning, I asked you: what happens if you with 100 thousands other Muslims gave $1. But I didn't stop there. If I stopped there that's called volume, but not FOCUSED volume.
Focused volume is when all of them give to ONE project at the same time.
And that's what we do in HalfDate, every month we specify a measurable goal and a deadline within that month.
Where do you learn this in Islam? From all congregational worship, Salah jamaah, jumaa, Ramadan, and Hajj.
2. Distributed, so no donor fatigue
One reason we started HalfDate, because we used to help a school and after a while, we just can't cover the expenses of the school. So, with HalfDate, you distribute the load of one local community across the Ummah.
And that's a principle in Islam, for example the hadith that says the believers are like a body, if one organ is sick, the whole body comes to rescue.
3. With HalfDate, you get instant gratification; you see real difference made every month.
Why is this important? Because Allah is our creator and he told us, that we are impatient. So, with HalfDate, you know that your contribution makes an immediate difference.
Not like other other charity work, you donate $10K for a masjid and after 5 years, the project still doesn't have enough fund.
4. Sadaqa is not just donation
HalfDate drives are not just about donations, because Sadaqa in Islam is a broad concept. So with HalfDate, even when you can't donate half a date, you can still leave a comment as the hadith said, a pleasant word.
Also, HalfDate gives you a good mixture of donation drives and other drives, so you don't get tired, and that's a principle in Islam, that human has short attention span.
So, you may help out in a Dua drive or a recycling drive... all depends on your interests.
5. Grassroots discovery
Remember the stories where Abu Bark (RA) used to check the condition of Muslims at night. Same here, HalfDate gets reports from Muslims like you about people in need. For example, through people like you, we came to know about a sister who publishes children book, and help her community even that she suffered from several heart attacks.
And where do we learn this in the Quran? In sura al-thariyat and almararij, Allah wants us to give to those who ask and those who shy away from asking.

A simply inspiring story of an incredible man.
Randy Pausch set the tone at his farewell lecture at Carnegie Mellon University.
"If I don't seem as depressed or morose as I should be, sorry to disappoint you," said Dr. Pausch.
It is probably the last public speech Dr. Pausch will give anywhere. The 46-year-old computer science professor and father of three preschoolers has incurable pancreatic cancer. Doctors have given him months to live.
Yet, standing at the podium in McConomy Auditorium, Randy Pausch did not focus on impending death. Instead, he celebrated the chance he had been given to live the life he always had dreamed of.

NOTE: Ahmadinejad never said "Wipe off the map", although for simplicity's sake I didn't clarify it in the video.
NOTE: The song is "Zombie" by the Cranberries.
You might be a twisted Ziofascist if...
You get angry that Arabs call your state the Zionist entity, but don't mind denying the very existence of Palestine
You think fighting in the name of God is barbarous, unless it is your God.
You think the concept of a Master Race is atrocious, but you don't mind the idea of the Chosen People!
You think Hitler was sick fuck for stealing land in Eastern Europe where "Aryans" used to live, but you don't mind massive Jewish immigration into Palestine based on religious fables from 4000 years ago.
You call people anti-Semitic when people compare you to Nazis, but you don't mind embracing ethnic nationalism, land annexation, and ethnic cleansing because those are just part of Jewish liberation.
You say Palestinians are really just Jordanians and Egyptians, but you'd be offended if we called Israelis Russians or Germans or (insert country) instead of Israelis.
You think that Hitler's war machine rolling through Europe is not justified for "preserving Germany", but you don't mind that Israel struck pre-emptively in 1967, avoided peace talks and had a history of attacking its neighbors.
You think Holocaust Denial is anti-Semitic, but you have no problem denying or even celebrating the Palestinian al-Nakbah.
You call Jewish suicide bombers of the 1948 war patriots and heroes, but you can't fathom why a Palestinian might blow himself up after his house has been demolished.
You think the Jewish ghettos in Poland during the Holocaust were a human rights crisis, but you have no problem starving Palestinians from food in Gaza and walling them in in the West Bank.
You get mad when people say Jews killed Christ, but turn a blind eye when the Israelis blow up the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
You say Israel is the lone democracy in the Middle East, but don't mind having pro-Israel groups like AIPAC or the AJC screw up the democratic traditions of the USA
You say Israel is the freest country in the Middle East, but you don't mind when Israeli troops fire at courageous Jewish anti-occupation protesters in Bi'lin
You think the Jews should be able to freely celebrate their heritage, but you think the Palestinian flag (raised 30 years before Israel was even created in 1948) is anti-Semitic.
You call me a Jew-hater, but you don't mind presuming I'm some sort of Arab or Iranian (I'm not. Keep guessing).
You think aerial bombardments, house arrest, land annexation, and other forms of collective punishment are "defensive," but you consider suicide bombings "inhuman" and "terroristic".
You consider it anti-Semitic when Nazis and racists identify Jews with the State of Israel, but you have no problem identifying Jews with the state of Israel yourself.
You would be horrified if someone told you that Nazism is in the blood of the German people, but you don't mind the idea that all Jews should support the State of Israel.
You hate anti-Semites, but you think Jews don't have enough individualism or moral consciousness to disagree with Israeli policy without being "self-hating Jews".
You think the Palestinians hate democracy, but you don't mind assasinating democratically elected Palestinian leaders AND democratically elected Israeli leaders like Yitzhak Rabin
You are ready to go to war if Iran threatens to wipe you off the map, but you dont' mind wiping Palestinians off the map since 1948. PS: He never said it would be wiped off the map, go learn Farsi.
You believe in the "right to return" of Jews to a country they've never been to, but not if the Jewish person is critical of Israel (ie Norman Finkelstein).
You don't understand why people would rather die on their feet than live on their knees.

Impressive. One of this video watcher a "live book" about Armstrong. His message: ------------------------------------- Hi David, Sorry for taking so long to reply. I'm not on that video nor was I there. I'm a life-long Louis Armstrong nut so I know when he did everything. There are two books that I get my information about videos from, "All Of Me-The Complete Discography of Louis Armstrong" by Jos Willems & "Louis Armstrong On The Screen" by Dr. Klaus Stratemann. The Louis clip you posted is from the first of two BBC-TV shows. Each show was 45 minutes & they were taped on the same day, July 2, 1968. Aside from Louis the rest of the band is Tyree Glenn-trombone, Joe Muranyi-clarinet, Marty Napoleon-piano, Buddy Catlett-bass & Danny Barcelona-drums. Louis died three years later, on July 6, 1971. He was only on the road full time for another two months after this clip. By mid September of 1968 he was seriously ill in the hospital & was out of commisiion for most of 1969. I hope that's enough information for you. Best wishes, Phil ------------------------------ Phil, I am very been thankful by the information. Thank you so much.

Eid Al-Fitr, the 3-day Islamic holiday commemorates the completion of Ramadan, and the massive amounts of increased worship in the month. There are more than 10 Million Muslims in the United States, according to some estimates, and this number is steadily, if not exponentially growing. Islam is the second most populous religion in the West, including the United States, Canada, France, Germany, as well as many other European nations, with even more followers than Judaism.
