Here it is. My cover of Viva la vida by Coldplay.
From their excellent new album of the same name.
The vocal effects were a bit different to the last one. In the verses I used a slightly deeper plate reverb, and in the choruses I increased that reverb quite a bit, and added a chorus effect. I've also boosted the vocal presence more in the verses, for that more intimate sound :)
As before, I've tried to emulate the effects in the original, but made some alterations to suit my own voice.
I hope you enjoy my rendition of this song :)

Doing these cover versions is really helping with my production skills. I've used a backing track for this one. I've been trying to concentrate on vocal reproduction, effects and filters etc. On this one there is two vocal tracks. The first vocal track is compressed and uses a plate reverb. I tried to get the settings close to that in the original. The second track is the vocals at the end of the song. They are uncompressed, and have a fraction of reverb to give them some atmosphere.
I hope you like my rendition of this great song :)

This song is not on my forthcoming album.
This is the first of a selection of three old original songs I wrote with another musician called "Mick Paul". We wrote and recorded 9 songs in total, over a period of about 2 weeks. I wanted to show what sort of stuff I was writing when I started recording for real. So this is the first in the selection. The vocals in the songs are below par. Probably because there was not enough time to learn the songs. They were written, and then recorded hours later.
I am pleased with the lyrics and melodies of all the songs.

Be careful with the volume. This song contains what is known as "Speaker busters". Very loud and deep bass notes that can damage some bass speakers if their volume is too high.

Well I'm over half way through the production of my first independant Album, which will be going on sale digitally. Hopefully in July.
I stopped for a break, and decided to cover a song that was requested quite a while ago. It's "No surprises" by "Radiohead".
The video is quite a simple one. Just me sitting in half shadow. It's been said that I have a very expressive face, so I decided to do a video where I was thinking about several different memories, which provoke different emotional responses. I wanted to keep it subtle, so you could pick up the different emotions with observation.
The video is a bit like the original video, but without the water. Lol :)

Yippee I'm celebrating one year on Youtube. The best way for me to do that is to upload a new original song. This one is called "Broadcast fantasy", and it's quite fitting really, considering Youtube is all about video. It's an amusing view of tv addiction, and some of the ridiculous things that go on in soap operas etc. Beyond belief, but millions still watch :)
