Force Majeure Film Studios and Black Cat Bone Theatre (a Holy owned subsidiary of Black Cat Bone Global Media Empire) present the experimental art films (Evil Digital Films & Intertitle Pictures) by The Right Reverend James W. Bailey.

The Right Reverend James W. Bailey is an experimental artist, photographer and imagist writer from Mississippi. His art focus includes Littoral Art Projects that explore the fleeting moments of cross-cultural communicative intersections; film projects, including the short film, "Talking Smack"; "Wind Painting", a unique naturalistic art practice inspired by the vanishing Southern African-American cultural tradition of the Bottle Tree; street photography centered on the hidden cultural edges of inner city New Orleans life; and "Rough Edge Photography", a hard-edge non-digital photographic style that celebrates the death of 35mm film through the burning, tearing, slashing and violent manipulation of chemically developed negatives and prints.

Evil Digital Films & Intertitle Pictures - A Hoodoo Incantation by The Right Reverend James W. Bailey

As an artist/photographer who is rooted in the "tradition" of film-based still photography, I have become interested in exploring the use of digital technology to capture the immediacy of spontaneously experienced "real" moments in time. My artistic response to this interest is an online body of work featuring digitally captured images (combined with text poems) that I refer to as Evil Digital Films.

The Evil Digital Films screened at Black Cat Bone Theatre are inspired by the "unedited" diary of my "real" life experiences. Most of my films are concerned with digitally capturing a moment of inspiration derived from the "context" of my life being lived out in the magic of the "real" world. All of my Evil Digital Films are accompanied by a text poem that "connects" to the visual dynamic of the film in question. Each poem offers a "narrative" reflection on what that "unedited" moment meant to me at the time I captured it. My artistic desire is to present to you the viewer raw images and thoughts in time that approximate (as much as possible) the actual images I "saw" and thoughts I "had" at the time I experienced what you are invited to watch and read.

At an aesthetic/philosophical level I am also interested in exploring how the immediacy of the end product of digital capture technology (as presented through an online format) can be used to play with and subvert the conventional language of popular film. For example: Traditionally, most popular films feature opening credits, followed by a highly edited narrative sequence, followed by closing credits, with all of these film elements (and more) often being "enhanced" by a multitude of highly polished special visual and sound effects. My Evil Digital Films have no opening credits, no highly edited narrative sequence, no closing credits and no highly polished special visual and/or sound effects.

As a body of work intended for free public access, Evil Digital Films constitute a visual impression (or a visual diary, if you will) of my artistic connectivity with a selected version of the "real" world that I experienced by spontaneously jumping in and out of those captured moments that surrounded me at the time of the "creation" of these films - fleeting moments in time during which I was inspired to recreate the "truth" of my experience and thoughts without being needlessly burdened by the conventional post-production aesthetic confines of traditional film-making craft.

All of my Evil Digital Films and their accompanying text poems are also posted on my art blog, Black Cat Bone - Burning The Flesh Off Modern Art @ http://blackcatbone.blogspot.c om. I cordially invite you to search the archives of Black Cat Bone to view and read my past, present and future Evil Digital Films.

In order to read the text poem that accompanies each film screened at Black Cat Bone Threatre on YouTube.com, simply click on the image of the film you are interested in viewing. After clicking on the film image, you will notice on the homepage of each film a tab that reads: DIRECTOR. Underneath the DIRECTOR tab you will see a line that reads as follows: [*Viewer Note - be sure to click on the (MORE) tab to read the complete statement.] An experimental art film by The Right Reverend James W. Bailey. The poem that accompanies this film can be read at http://blackcatbone.blogspot.c om/sampleevildigitalfilm. By clicking on the Black Cat Bone hyperlink, you will be taken to Black Cat Bone where you will be able to both view the film you have selected as well as read its accompanying text poem.

Intertitle Pictures - Pushing The Boundaries Of Evil Digital Films

Intertitle Pictures, inspired by the language of silent films, combines words, photographs and video clips in a contained and seamless edited experience.

Intertitle Pictures is intended as a further exploration of Evil Digital Films. Whereas Evil Digital Films present unedited video clips accompanied by separate text in the body of a blog post, Intertitle Pictures combines text, sound and images in a more traditional film presentation.

I hope you'll consider coming back often to Black Cat Bone Theatre. I'll have the box office cashier reserve a Black Star Favored Patron Ticket in your name that allows you free entry into the theatre to see my latest film, along with some free V.I.P. coupons that entitle you to a complimentary bag of fresh hot popcorn and a cold drink of your choice. I'll look forward to seeing you at the movies!

WLOX Page 13 Interviews Joe Moran
Thanks so much for posting this. Joe Moran was a wonderful man and a true artist. I used to work in Biloxi not far from his studio/gallery that was destroyed by Katrina. We Mississippians are very fortunate that his photographic treasure trove was saved. (hace 4 semanas)

I'm from New Orleans and greatly appreciate you posting this video. Jack A. Serio, Jr., pictured in the video, died on August 11. His obituary can be read @ NOLA dot com - ou'll have to search for his name because the comment panel would not allow me to post the hyperlink to the obit. The Plantation Coffeehouse was the best. Jack will be greatly missed by many who called the Plantation Coffeehouse their second home. (hace 11 meses)
