And I have seen thouuuusssaaands of Greek films on Youtube, and NONE of them were about attacking homosexuals or homosexuality in any way. Instead, I saw how a bunch of bigots (in commentary similar to yours) were ''accusing" the maker of the video and specifically his nationality of being gay.
And have you not for example seen the Greek movie "From the edge of the city" once ? If you like to roam the Net searching for homophobia in Europe, then I suggest you start looking in Polish chat-rooms. According to EU-sources Poland is currently notorious for being anti-gay and even risks being taken to court for certain human rights violations. |

No correction needed. Ypsilanti never had the mandate or support from the Czar to get involved in the Greek revolution, and remained stuck in Wallachia. The uprisings in the Peloponesse, Crete and Central Greece itself were at the heart of the revolution of 1821. It was executed by the 'captains', their militia, and the merchant fleet. It was another in a long series of revolts by Greek people against the Ottoman occupation. Restoration of the Byzantine empire had always been the objective. Except for philhellenic activity, the revolution received no foreign support, at least not initially. The Great Powers were allied in their opposition to revolutions in the aftermath of Napoleon. The turning point came in 1827, when an Ottoman and Egyptian armada were destroyed in the naval Battle of Navarino. This intervention was instigated by reports of atrocities, commited by the Egyptians, and the increasing pressure that followed from home public opinion to lend assistance to the Greeks.

A correction: The fight for the independence of Greece has started actually in 1821, when Alexandre Ypsilanti has received funds from the Tzar to start the battle. At first he intended to put the capital of Greece in Bucharest (today's Romania) and he faught with local Romanian forces, killing Tudor Vladimirescu, the revolutionary who wanted to limit the turkish power in Wallachia. Later on the Tzar of Russia has changed his mind.
The war of Independence of Greece has been helped by many gays in Europe, like Lord Byron and others (who died in the fight)! Ironically, today Greece is the most homophobic country in Europe (besides Cyprus!!!!). I t is so disgusting to see now all the greek films on the you tube attacking so viciously homosexuals and in fact denying the real history of Greece, in the name of "Christianity"! |
