The Alberta government is the most secretive and undemocratic government in North America. We have a freedom of information act here but unless you are very rich and are willing to wait a year to get documents that are heavily redacted, don't bother. That's right, in Alberta you have to pay thousands of dollars to get information that in every other jurisdiction is free to the public. The only people in Alberta who have real freedom of information are Conservative part insiders and oil executives.

BTW, our Minister of the Environment, is really the junior minister of tar sands oil.
