Damian Marquis McDaniel is a 30 year old Singer/Actor/Musician from Portsmouth Virginia. Vocally, Damian has been into gospel music from an early age. At 12 years old, he became the organist and choir director at The New Beginning Christian Center, pastored by his grandmother. At I. C. Norcom High School, he was a member of the gospel choir (1994-1996) and later became the director (1996-1998). He also marched in the band playing the Sousaphone and serving as section leader his last year. Damian attended College at Norfolk State University and was a member of the Voices of Inspiration Gospel Choir of Norfolk State University under the direction of Min. Patrick Riddick (2000-2002) and Min. Alvin Rooks Jr. (2002-2004). From 1999 - 2001 Damian was a member of the Spartan Legion Marching Band. During his high school and college years, Damian sang with Shekinah Glory Outreach Ministries under the direction of Rev. Antwan L. Jones and Min. Ivan Pretlow; Totally Satisfied With Christ; and Chosen Aggregation directed by Min. Lamont Bynum. Damian graduated from Norfolk State University in 2004 with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies - Music Education - Instrumental. In April-May of 2005, Damian had his New York acting debut in the play "Every Dog Has His Day" written and directed by Dana Hubbard (Will A Man Rob God) in which he played ''Lucky'', a stuttering sidekick to murdering mobster named Max. In June 2005 He was the personal assistant to actor/singer/songwriter Mr. Michael LeMelle with M.Y.N.T. (Malik Yoba National Theater Company) for the play "What's On the Hearts of Men" in Miami, Fl. starring Malik Yoba and co-starring Michael LeMelle of Norfolk, VA. Damian has worked as Production Assistant for Westvision Inc. in "If This Hat Could Talk"; the story of Dr. Dorothy Height and the unsung she-roes of the civil rights movement. Damian worked on "Leaving The Wilderness" in November of 2005; a true story of how God delivered a woman from the bondage of domestic violence. He even worked security for actress Dawnn Lewis (A Different World) in the play "The Fifth" in Portsmouth, VA in the fall of 2006. Damian has worked in the studio doing reference vocals with gospel great Min. Daryl Coley. From July 1st to September 26th 2007, Damian traveled the country for a 56 city, 60 concert tour working on the American Idol Live Tour 2007. Damian is a former member of Gethsemane Community Fellowship Church in Norfolk, VA under Pastor Kirk T. Houston Sr. Damian served as Minister of Music and head of the music department at his grandmothers' church; The New Beginning Christian Center in Norfolk, VA from 1990 -2008. Currently, Damian is in the process of recording his first solo gospel project to be released in 2008. This project is blessed with the gifts and talents of some of Hampton Roads greatest: A-Tune (producer), B Junior (producer), Ray J. Pope (producer), Rashard Small (producer), Min. Alvin Rooks Jr. (songwriter), Kavoris Fruster (songwriter), Christopher Cox (songwriter/vocals), Micheal LeMelle (songwriter), and will feature some great vocalists of the area. Damian's traumatic upbringing and the tragic murder of his mother at the hand of her husband in 1988 is the fuel and fire for his ministry and is his testimony to how, with GODS love, YOU ARE A SURVIVOR AND AN OVERCOMER!!! Damian currently resides in Atlana, GA (Stone Mountain) and is a member of City of Refuge Family Life Center C.O.G.I.C. under Pastor/Superintendent Timothy A.C. Cox and First Lady Preshana Price-Cox in Decatur, GA. God had also allowed Damian to write his first book Destiny Is Calling: The True Story Of Damian McDaniel.
