I think the morally valid stuff in postmodernism would be healthy forms of pluralism and healthy forms of relativism (as opposed to extreme relativism). The bad in postmodernism: tendencies toward nihilism, inauthenticity, lack of depth, lack of discernment, the denial of modernity, endless 'consensus', and some say heartless irony. Im sure everyone agrees... :) According to some statistics (of which the veracity might be low or high), currently the amount of postmodernists in the USA mght be just a little over 20 percent (a lot of hippies or exhippies do fit the postmodernist stereotype). Modernists might as well be about 20 percent of the populace, and traditionalists/conservatives might be at somewhere about 50 percent. There are other value memes emerging, though, the new ones that are known as integral are about 2 percent of the populace.

Consciousness and the brain are not the same thing.
The brain is merely our CPU and there is nothing more mysterious about it than that in my view.
It´s currently undergoing enlargement in the human species due to our rich variety of experience in our past so I would suppose that there is a genuine gap but that it´s up to each one of us who ponder on that gap to determine what it is.
For me since our bodies are illusion and that what is real is our consciousness or our minds , the brain is also an illusion , so there has to be a gap between the brain and consciousness,
