Hi everyone welcome to my surgery diary and profile. On 22/10/07 I underwent jaw surgery to correct my underbite and reduce the length of my chin. I have waited three years for this and now it's done feel so glad that the operation was done. There is a lot of pain and discomfort with this procedure but nothing compares to the confidence this has given me and how happy I feel about my appearance now. The operation involved cutting my upper jaw in three places and moving it forward to give me an overbite and then fixing the jaw together with titanium plates and screws. Then the surgeon took a section out of my chin to reduce the length and then pushed the bone back and then fixed it again with titanium plates and screws. I had to be wired up top and bottom with metal arch bars so that elastics could be attached to move my teeth into the new biting position. This was worn for six weeks. In the mean time I could only have liquids and no solid food. The metal bars and elastics were removed after six weeks.
Hopefully after watching my video this will help others to feel better about going through this type of surgery.
